April 1-3

The University of Maryland’s own Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center is hosting Second Season: Ghetto Symphony, a performance illustrating the everyday life of black urban youth in Baltimore. Free.


April 2

Located on the grounds of the Washington Monument, the Blossom Kite Festival is an annual event held as a part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Kite enthusiasts gather for a day of showing off their stunt skills and competing for awards between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Free.


April 7

Head over to Nationals Park for Opening Day as the Washington Nationals take on the Miami Marlins at 4:05 pm. The first 25,000 fans will receive Nationals sunglasses presented by GEICO. $55+.


April 14-24

The 30th annual Filmfest DC, an international film festival, returns to the nation’s capital this month for over a week of documentaries, features, comedies, shorts and award winners. Prices may vary.


April 16

Continue the National Cherry Blossom Festival with the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival, the biggest Japanese street party in the country.  Stop by for cooking demonstrations, cultural exhibits and vendors that begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. $10 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.


April 16

Students 21+ can enjoy a day of craft beers, food trucks and lawn games at the DC Beer Festival, an event that offers two different sessions with unlimited beer tastings throughout Nationals Park. $43.19.


April 19

The Fillmore Silver Spring is hosting Waka Flocka Flame: 420 Eve Show at 8 p.m. for a night of live music by one of rap’s biggest names. $22.50.

April 25-30

De-stress and register for Metro DC Yoga Week, the biggest yoga gathering in the DMV. Participants can enjoy either free or reduced-cost classes at member studios or join in on Yoga on the Mall at the Sylvan Theater at the end of the week. Prices may vary.


April 29

Beliebers listen up: Justin Bieber is coming to the nation’s capital. Head over to the Verizon Center at 7:30 p.m. as the Biebs continues his Purpose World Tour. $86+.


April 29-May 1

Get a little taste of France with Georgetown’s French Market. The annual event returns to the Book Hill neighborhood from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with French fashion, live music, antique shops and galleries. Prices may vary.
